Modern technology on your back

A few sips of water can come in very handy when you least expect it.  Don't forget to hydrate yourself when spending time in high altitude environments.

The right backpack will make it real easy to carry essential survival items with you.  Remember that you should always have a bare minimum of water, a shovel and a beacon or transceiver when travelling into the backcountry.  A probe, radio or cell phones that work, something to eat and knowledge of snowpack and recent snowfall trends can't hurt either!
